Aboriginal Mental Health First Aid Training (AMHFA)

This 14 hour accredited course is suitable for people working with Aboriginal people and communities. You will learn how to assist an Aboriginal adult who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves, using practical, evidence-based action plan.

AMHFA covers developing mental health problems from depression and anxiety, psychosis and substance use problems. 

AMHFA also covers mental health crisis situations from suicidal thoughts and behaviours, non-suicidal self-injury (deliberate self-harm), panic attacks, traumatic events, severe effects of drug and alcohol abuse, severe psychotic states and aggressive behaviours.  

This course is suitable for adult Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal participants (max. 15 participants per training course).
